Important Notice was sent out to all Housing Section 8 families with new guidelines Jan. 4, 2010. Important Notice From: Maria Elena Contreras, Housing Supervisor. RE: Changes in Occupancy Standards- (928) 782-3823.

Housing Quality Standards (HQS)rules:
Unit Size Maximum Occupancy
0 BRM 1 Person
1 BRM 4 Person
2 BRM 6 Person
3 BRM 8 Person
4 BRM 10 Person
Example: If you have a household of 3 family members and you are currently living in a 3 bedroom unit, effective March 1, 2010 you will only qualify for a 2 brm unit regardless of age and sex of the household members. This also means that your rent will be based on the bedroom size that you qualify for with the new occupancy standards.
The majority of the families are single families-Women with kids that can't afford the new changes and will force to move in with parents and the parents will have to be burden with the their adult kids and the grandkids housing problems. There has to be some other way of dealing with the budgeting problems with HUD.
